(USA) – Speirs and Major Associates has been presented with the IALD Radiance Award for the third consecutive year for its work on the Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi.
Jonathan Speirs accepted the award at a ceremony, held on 13 May at the Renaissance Las Vegas Hotel, for his team's external lighting of the Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Mosque (Grand Mosque) in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The Radiance Award - the top honour at the annual IALD International Lighting Design Awards - is given to the project that scores highest from across the judging categories.
Twenty-three project from across 12 countries were recognised at this 27th edition of the awards with three entries earning Special Citations, 12 receiving Awards of Merit and eight attaining Awards of Excellence.
Diane McNabb Rodriguez, Associate IALD member and IALD International Lighting Design Awards chair, expressed her pleasure in the standard of this year’s recipients. “The IALD received more than 200 awe-inspiring submissions in response to its call for entries.
