Emap, the organisers of the Lighting Design Awards have announced the judges
for 2008 and they include some of the most experienced and respected names
in the lighting industry.
Judges in the project section include: Stephen Cannon-Brookes, principal of
Cannon-Brookes Lighting Design; Martin Valentine, lighting group director at
Faber Maunsell; Theo Paradise, head of lighting design and Max Fordham
Consulting Engineers; independent lighting designer Karen von Crefeld; Pete
Lummis, chief lighting engineer at Huntingdonshire District Council and Ray
Molony, editor of Lighting magazine.
For the innovations section the judges have been announced as: Tony Rimmer,
principal of Studio 29; Maida Hot, lighting design director at NDYLight;
Graham Large of the Waterman Group, David Mooney, regional associate at PB;
Gerry Knowles, managing director of General Lamps plc and Gareth Pritchard,
education service manager at the Institution of Lighting Engineers.
All the project judges will now be spending the winter months assessing
schemes across the UK and Ireland. "The Lighting Design Awards are widely
recognised as the ultimate stamp of excellence" said Ray Molony. "Therefore
these on-site visits are crucial to ensure that the high standards are
maintained".
A new category, Low Carbon Projects has been added this year, to recognise
installations that balance exceptional creativity with minimal environmental
impact.
Winners will be announced at a glittering ceremony at the London Hilton
Hotel on Park Lane on Thursday 6th March 2008.
