Ciralight, a leading manufacturer of an expanding line of high- performance daylighting products, has announced that FransyL Ltee of Terrebonne will be its Canadian distributor. Terrebonne is 13 miles northwest of Montreal, Quebec.
"We're delighted that architect Andre Morrissette and his firm are interested in specifying and selling the SunTracker line of products," said Earl Houston, Ciralight's vice president of Sales Marketing. "SunTracker has proven to be effective in bringing high quality light into buildings for more than 10 hours a day, which allows building owners and facility managers to turn their electric lights off during that period.
"Our high-performance daylighting systems are even effective at low sun angles," Houston continued. "We're having a lot of success in Sweden, for example, where, as in Canada, the sun rises no more than 30 degrees above the horizon."
SunTracker accommodates changes in the sun's direction and intensity during the day, from season to season and in its orientation in the sky, depending on region.
SunTracker's global positioning system (GPS) tracks the sun's location and locks onto it even when it is at very low angles. This is what enables the high- performance daylighting system to perform effectively in northern latitudes.
Even when days are gray and overcast, there's enough diffuse light to illuminate building interiors. An overcast day produces about 1,000 footcandles, so gathering only a fraction of that light will illuminate most spaces adequately.
Capitalizing on northern daylight conditions should be an important element of any energy-efficient lighting system for non-residential, single-story buildings. Integrating daylighting properly often can allow electric lighting and HVAC systems to be downsized.
SunTrackerOne produces approximately 35 percent return on investment, enhances people and building performance, and helps preserve the environment. SunTrackerTwo, which made its debut in earlier this month, will exceed SunTrackerOne performance.
