"Their new product offers substantial economic benefits, particularly to companies tendering for the Private Finance Initiative contracts to replace the lighting stock."

The luminaires are produced at AEC Illuminazione's ultra-modern production facility in Tuscany. Alessandro Cini, managing director of AEC Illuminazione, said: "I have a real passion for engineering and design. I would never produce anything that wasn't both beautiful and well built.

"With Kaos, I wanted to push the boundaries and produce a streetlight that was even more competitive,
with outstanding design and quality that people have come to associate with AEC. The result of this is the expression of design and technology working in perfect harmony.

"Choosing this level of quality and high technology is an investment in terms of energy savings and public safety."
