WOODHOUSE

    AUBRILAM

Woodhouse has been appointed the sole distributor in the UK for lighting and street furniture specialist, Aubrilam. Based in Clermont Ferrand in France, Aubrilam has been manufacturing wooden lighting columns and urban furniture for some 30 years. (With 20 years experience of its own as a lighting and street furniture designer/manufacturer, the decision for Woodhouse to work with Aubrilam was straightforward. The two companies share many of the same philosophies - modern design, quality, simplicity, high technology and a commitment to the environment. The addition of Aubrilamm's product range allows Woodhouse to offer customers something significantly different to anything else available in the UK today.

Aubrilam's products exhibit an understated elegance and a unique marriage of wood and metal, underscored by a sound ecological and sustainable approach, to help create contemporary urban schemes. The synthesis of wood and metal leads to great strength and resistance, but at the same time retains a light touch and an undoubted natural feel.

The Aubrilam range includes easily-maintained lighting columns, benches, posts, barriers, bicycle stands and litter bins, designed to both blend in with and respect the settings into which they are placed mirroring Woodhousem's own well-established philosophy.

Aubrilam use an industrial process which combines ingenuity, advanced technology and skilled hand finishing guaranteeing the highest quality levels. The wooden poles are EN40 compliant and fire resistant, offering considerable flexibility in application with excellent durability in varying climatic conditions. Useful life should exceed 30 years, with very limited and simple routine maintenance.

Aubrilam lighting poles have excellent weight/strength ratios and impressive dimensional stability, with minimal shrinkage/expansion compared to unprocessed wood. The timber is of course FSC Certified, a renewable primary material whose harvesting and processing is low in energy consumption. Its use fits in perfectly with sustainable development strategies.

Aubrilam's commitment to the environment is recorded in their charter "naturellement durable" under which they strive to work closely with all their partners to limit the environmental impact of their business, including energy and water consumption and environmental pollution. Their vision is to become a "remarkable company" beyond that of simple manufacturer of masts, lighting structures and urban fittings to being "creators of lightscapes" committed to the values of a global environmental approach. (Aubrilam work with internationally-renowned designers to advance technical innovation and to ensure the highest standard of product design. Antonio Citterio, for example. Considered as one of the greatest working Italian Designers, he graduated in architecture in 1972 and successfully turned to industrial design before opening an architectural practice which operates from Europe to Japan. A touch of genius applied to so many fields, his furniture and decorative items can be found all around the world.
