The Ambar projector, designed specifically by RSF+ Partners to illuminate the Richard Rogers + Architects exhibition at the Pompidou Centre, is another product from Reggiani's Interchangeable Optical System range.
Ambar is an innovative product that creates a fascinating interplay of point and counterpoint to bring a targeted dimension to interior lighting, as proven by the lighting design of the Paris exhibition.
Ambar projector system is composed of:
Optical system: Interchangeable Optical System (IOS) composed of a 99.99% pure aluminium reflector with twist-lock fixing system and tempered safety glass. IOS (design Fabio Reggiani) is the brainchild of Reggiani research and is the system that has revolutionised light, introducing a dynamism without precedent, to obtain the best lighting efficiency and the most versatile application, varying light beam and colour with utmost simplicity. The innovation of the IOS system lies completely in the 99.99% pure aluminium interchangeable reflector with twist lock fixing system, suitable to house high performance halogen and metal halide lamps. It comes with five colour variants and three light beam widths for each reflector size: hundreds of possible combinations to change light without having to change a luminaire. There is an extraordinary difference in performance between a luminaire that uses the IOS system and a traditional one: some 25% higher. Indeed, IOS provides 90% performance against the average 65% obtained using a traditional reflector. This difference leads to a considerable benefit: with the same light sources, the IOS system makes it possible to use lower wattage lamps; or, with the same wattage, it is possible to install fewer luminaires. So IOS energy translates into efficiency and energy saving.
