Ibn Majed Restaurant, Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa

Aqua Creations has provided decorative lighting for Ibn Majed Restaurant at the recently refurbished Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa in Dubai.

One of seven dining outlets within the hotel, Ibn Majed offers an international culinary journey with themed dinner menus and generous breakfast buffets accompanied by views of the surrounding tropical gardens and beach.

Aqua Creations was asked to illuminate the restaurant’s spacious interiors with radiant yet refined lighting. They opted to use their Stand By pendants to complement the red and gold colour scheme throughout.

Stand By is a round-shaped disc made from hand-crushed treated silk, mounted over a metal laser cut frame and suspended from a ceiling plate by a thin stainless steel cable. Available in a range of colours and sizes, Stand By also comes as wall and ceiling fixtures, trio pendant, quartet pendant, and mobile.

The unique light sculptures have been placed over the main seating area of the restaurant to create a striking design feature and subtle lighting effect. Aqua Creations Design Studio, which was founded in 1994 by photographer Albi Serfaty and designer Ayala Serfaty, strongly believe that the merging of art and design are reflected in their products.

Despite the growth in the manufacturing and distribution process, their hand-made imprimatur still remains and all designs are rendered in the signature hand-dyed, custom-crushed silk. Aqua Creations’ skilled artisans work on each piece individually, thus ensuring they remain works of art rather than products of conventional industrial design.

With increasing business in the contract market, the studio is currently working on a number of decorative projects around the world and now has showrooms in New York and Shanghai. In the UK Aqua Creations’ catalogue of products is available through distributor Cameron Peters.
